Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro

Article written by IN2Travel - 230x viewed

Probably the most known place for carnival: Rio de Janeiro. Organized for the biggest part by inhabitants from slums. The parades in the Sambadrome are colorful, extravagant and over the top. Shining floats and a lot of breast and bottoms. IN2TRAVEL hosts a series of photos for the Rio carnival!

Carnival in western countries is mainly about playful costumes, party music and alcohol - a lot of alcohol. In South-America carnival is not only a big happening, it's a way of live.

Rio de Janeiro
The carnival parade in Rio is seen as one of the biggest shows in the world. And they're probably right. Competing samba schools work year round on their floats and acts with one goal: giving the best performance on the yearly parade. Not an easy job. All the acts are fully trained. And, even if the floats look amazingly beautiful and the dancers are dresses in phenomenal outfits: the moves, music and performance are also parts that count. Carnival is not only a party, it's also a rife competition.

Features
The most known carnival images are probably the scarcely dresses dancers. With a cheek to cheek smile and shaking bottoms they hang out on and around their floats. Next to that carnival also has a history - dating back to 1723.
